Delete your account and data
You can permanently delete your Eisaal account and everything stored with it, at any time and free of charge. There are two routes: from inside the app, or by emailing us if you have already uninstalled it. Both result in the same erasure; the in-app route is immediate.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you want a copy of your data first, export it before you delete: in the app, open Settings → Legal → Data & Privacy → Export My Data.
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (immediate)
- Open the Eisaal app and make sure you are signed in to the account you want to delete.
- Tap the settings (gear) icon in the top bar of the home screen.
- Scroll to the bottom of Settings, to the Danger Zone section.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Read the confirmation notice and confirm. Your account and all the data listed below are erased straight away, and you are signed out.
If you signed in with Apple, the app also asks Apple to revoke Eisaal’s sign-in token as part of the same step, so the connection between your Apple ID and Eisaal is removed as well. If you have been using the app as a guest, use this in-app route while you are still in that guest session: an anonymous record carries no email address, so we have no way to match an emailed request to it.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email (if you have uninstalled the app)
Send an email to shortfiqh@gmail.com from the email address on your Eisaal account, so that we can confirm the request is yours.
Subject line
Account deletion request - Eisaal
Message template
Please permanently delete my Eisaal account and all associated data. Account email: <the email address you sign in with> Sign-in method: <email / Google / Apple> Platform: <iOS / Android> Name on account (if set): <your name> I understand this is permanent and cannot be undone.
We acknowledge requests within 5 business days and complete verified ones within 30 days, emailing you to confirm once it is done. If you delete your account inside the app instead, it takes effect immediately. If we cannot match the sending address to an account, we will ask you a single verification question rather than delete the wrong record.
What is deleted
When your account is deleted, the following is erased from our systems in full. Nothing in this list is kept, anonymised and re-used, or retained for marketing.
| Category | Specifically | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Login record | Your email address, sign-in provider link (Google / Apple), account identifier, and authentication record | Deleted |
| Profile | Name, gender, city / state / country, marja you follow, khums start date, privacy-policy acceptance record | Deleted |
| Profile photo | The image file in our storage and the link to it | Deleted — the file is removed from storage, after which the link no longer resolves |
| Favourites | Favourites, favourite collections, and the items inside them | Deleted |
| Qaza records | Qaza profiles, including any custom names you entered for family members | Deleted |
| Aamaal & calendar | Your saved aamaal and your personal Hijri calendar events | Deleted |
| Preferences | Synced app preferences and any role assignments | Deleted |
| Diagnostics | Crash and analytics records tied to your account identifier | Deleted on request — tell us in your email, or email us separately, and we remove them from our crash-reporting and analytics providers |
| Backups | — | We keep no automated database backups, so there is no residual copy to overwrite |
| Support emails | Correspondence you sent us | Kept for 12 months, then deleted — tell us if you want it removed sooner |
Profile photos are served from a publicly readable link while the account exists (see §1.1 of the Privacy Policy). Deleting removes the file, but we cannot recall a copy that someone had already downloaded beforehand.
If any record must be kept longer because the law requires it — for example a record of the deletion request itself, to show that we honoured it — we keep only the minimum needed for that purpose and nothing else.
Data that was only ever on your phone
Some Eisaal data never reaches our servers at all: bookmarks and reading positions, tasbeeh sessions and presets, mohr (sajda) sessions, khums calculations, aamaal completions, prayer notification settings and per-prayer adjustments, cached prayer times, your last known approximate location, and your theme, font and language preferences.
Because we never hold a copy, we cannot delete it for you — and we do not need to. Uninstalling the app removes all of it from your device. You can also clear it while keeping the app installed, using your phone’s app-storage settings.
Deleting your account elsewhere
- Google: if you used Google Sign-In, you can also remove Eisaal’s access from your Google Account, under Security → Third-party apps with account access.
- Apple: if you used Sign in with Apple, the app asks Apple to revoke the token when you delete in-app; you can also check Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple on your device.
- Removing access at Google or Apple does not by itself delete your Eisaal data — use one of the two options above for that.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, or a deletion did not complete as described, email shortfiqh@gmail.com and we will look into it. Our Privacy Policy sets out what we hold and why.
